Alex Musgrave

Alex designs lighting for theatre, opera and dance and has lit productions of all sizes across the UK. Notably Fiver at the Southwark Playhouse, London, An evening with Sophia Loren, An evening with Kelsey Grammer and Shalamar at Aldwych Theatre, London, and Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens at the Union Theatre, London. Other venues include: The King’s Theatre, Portsmouth; Ferneham Hall, Fareham; The Square Tower, Portsmouth; The Egg, Bath; The Minack Theatre, Cornwall; Alexandra Theatre, Bognor Regis; The Other Place Studio, London; The Blue Elephant Theatre, London.

Alex was the 2019 recipient of the Association of Lighting Designers Lumiere Scheme. The Scheme is a professional development programme with the goal of training the recipient to an industry standard. Over the course of six months, Alex assisted: David Howe on The Magic Goes Wrong at The Lowry, Salford and West Side Story at The Birmingham Hippodrome. Alex also worked with Katharine Williams on Oor Wullie at Dundee Rep, Johanna Town on Two Ladies at The Bridge Theatre, London and Peter Mumford on The Mask or Orpheus at English National Opera and Far Away at the Donmar Warehouse.

Alex Studied Technical Theatre at Bath Spa University and has worked within the London’s West End as a lighting technician for the last 10 years. He was the Chargehand electrician at the Aldwych Theatre, working on Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Beautiful:The Carole King Musical, Follow-spot operator for Legally Blonde the Musical at Savoy Theatre, Desk operator for Top Hat at the Aldwych Theatre and Lighting technician for the London production of Wicked the Musical at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
