Grahame Gardner

Born in Glasgow, Grahame studied at Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh and at the University of Rochester, New York. As former Chief Electrician with Scottish Ballet, he designed lighting for many shows including Sonata In Time, Who Cares?, Prisoners, Cheri, Carmen, and Esprit. Other dance designs include Rite of Spring, Verklärte Nacht, and Tryst for Ulster Youth Dance; Song of Songs for Scottish Dance Theatre, Les Amoureux, Miranda and Dance Derby for Company Chordelia, and ME(Mobile/Evolution) for Claire Cunningham. Operas include The Loving of Etain and An Turus for Paragon Ensemble; Queen of Spades for Edinburgh Grand Opera, The Magic Flute, Falstaff and Hansel & Gretel for AIYF Opera Garden, and The Seven Deadly Sins for Scottish Opera. Music Theatre work includes Cryptic's Black Over Red and Each…And Every Inch; Glassworks, RITE and TORQUE for Paragon Ensemble, A Ladder to the Stars for Visible Fictions, and JUMP! for National Theatre of Scotland. Grahame is also Associate Lighting Designer for Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake. His other interests include dowsing and geomancy, and he is a registered tutor, professional member, and Past President of the British Society of Dowsers.
