Lee Stoddart
Biography
Lee Stoddart – Lighting Designer
Lee first caught the theatre bug in 1965 when he stage-managed Julius Caesar for the National Youth Theatre. Various technical and production roles including television work at university helped consolidate the interest. He holds his daughters responsible for re-kindling his interest in theatre after a long break; attending a rehearsal for their dancing school pantomime he offered to hold the ladder while someone adjusted a light. The rest, as they say, is history.
Lee has lit for several of the well-known companies in the Portsmouth and Southsea area. His credits include a wide range of plays and musicals. His particular favourites have been the national tour of Elvis, the centenary gala for the Kings Theatre, Elephant Man, Cabaret, West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Titanic, Godspell, Sweeney Todd, The Full Monty, The Producers, Hot Mikado, Frost/Nixon, Avenue Q, Hairspray, and Legally Blonde. Recent favourites include Into the Woods, Grease, and Of Mice and Men. Lee is the resident lighting designer for Petworth Festival.
Lee created the original lighting design for new musicals The Code of Love and Tinsel the Musical. He also received a Curtain Call Award for his lighting of Aida.
