Biography
Rick Fisher Lighting Designer Originally from Philadelphia, Rick has been working in British theatre for over twenty years. He is currently Vice President of the Association of Lighting Designers. Recent theatre work includes: Sunny Afternoon, The Audience, Chariots of Fire, Billy Elliot, the musical (West End), Jerry Springer The Opera (National Theatre / West End); Hamlet (Edinburgh International Festival / Barcelona / Birmingham); Honour (National Theatre); Other theatre includes: Far Away (New York); A Number (Royal Court), Blue / Orange (National Theatre / West End); Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Berlin) and Via Dolorosa (Royal Court / Broadway). Recent opera includes: 22 operas for Santa Fe Opera, Sweeney Todd (Houston and San Francisco); Falstaff (Saito Kinen Festival and LA Opera) The Little Prince (New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera); Fiery Angel, Turandot (Bolshoi, Moscow); Capuleti I Montecchi (Spoleto Festival, USA); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Fenice, Venice); Tsarina's Slippers, Wozzek (ROH). Dance includes: Swan Lake (London / Los Angeles / Broadway) for Matthew Bourne Awards include: Bronze Medal for Lighting Design at the 2005 World Stage Design show in Toronto. 1998, 1994 Olivier Award Winner for Best Lighting Design; and 2 Tony Awards for An Inspector Calls and Billy Elliot (Broadway).Rick was overwhelmed to be honoured with the Enrico Caironi Lifetime Recognition Award at the 2017 Knights of Illumination and of course Rick is very proud to be a Fellow of the Association of Lighting Designers.
