Taking place on 12-13 February at the Business Design Centre, London, the 2008 Architectural Retail & Corporate Lighting Trade Show (ARC08) will see Rosco showing a number of its industry-leading lighting and projection products. The X24 X-Effects is the very latest version of Rosco’s unique ripple X-Effects projector, which features re-tooled guides, idlers, drive assemblies, motors and upgraded lamp and power supply – all of which are designed to make the unit even more robust. The modifications have all been made in the front motor assembly, so customers with existing X-Effects units can upgrade their unit to an X24 simply by purchasing the X24 Front Motor Module. This new module installs quickly and easily, with just 4 bolts and no wiring.
X24 X-Effects provides large scale dimensional effects previously unavailable to lighting designers. With a 200 watt Enhanced Metal Arc source, output of 5K lumens and 7000 hour lamp life, the colour temperature is similar to a Xenon source at 6000K but with nearly twice the luminous effectiveness of a halogen source. The ripple effect is created by rotating two "X" size glass gobos off centre of the optical path. This results in an unusual projection effect which appears to have no visible direction or pattern.
The colour slot will accept dichroic colour filters and the projector includes potentiometers to control the speed and direction of both gobos. Lens trains are available in 30, 50 and 70-degree configurations and, due to the efficiency of the lamp and the design of the optics, all lenses have crisp edges - even for long throws of 30.48m (100 feet) or more.
In addition to the standard model, which is ideal for retail or museum display, a DMX-equipped version is also available for use in theatrical applications. Using five DMX channels, it has full control of each effect gobo, lamp strike and light output. The DMX-controlled douser, also initiated through your lighting control board, directs blackouts and fades as well as the light output.
Rosco is also the UK distributor for the Derksen range of image projectors, which it will have on show at ARC08. Derksen is well known and highly respected manufacturer of architectural lighting and projection fixtures. Both indoor and outdoor projection is catered for with the systems covering light throw distances of between eight and 200 feet (2.5 - 61m).
As the world’s largest manufacturer of colour filters, Rosco will of course be showing some of its leading filer products. These will include the Permacolor, dichroic glass filters and ChromaSleeves.
Permacolor filters are specifically designed not to fade or shift colour and Rosco's sophisticated manufacturing process also allows for precise batch to batch colour consistency which is unprecedented in other dichroic coatings. They are available in 24 colours and five standard sizes on durable borafloat glass 1.1mm (.043”), 1.75mm (.069") or 3.3mm (.129”) thick. They can be custom cut in any size up to 342.9mm (13.5") diameter.
ChromaSleeve - another groundbreaking colour filter specifically for fluorescent fittings - is a body-coloured, extruded polycarbonate sleeve which adds colour to standard fluorescent tubes, while also protecting against the dangers of lamp breakage. Featuring a UV absorber to prevent premature colour fading, the ChromaSleeve is available from stock in standard colours (Dark Blue, Light Blue, Green, Red, Light Red, Purple, Pink, Yellow and Amber). They are available for T12, T8, T5 lamps, with 1.2m (4') length as standard.
