Cyc Lighting for the 21st Century and Much More: White Light at ABTT 2008

An exhibitor at the very first ABTT Show in 1978, leading entertainment lighting supplier White Light returned to thirtieth anniversary of this ever-popular show on Wednesday and Thursday of this week at the Royal Horticultural Halls near Victoria Station in London, once again using the show to let lighting practitioners meet the very latest lighting tools.
A central feature of the stand was the remarkable EvenLED cyc-lighting system, already supplied by White Light to one major musical and in demand from many more shows. A metre-square tile containing sixteen super-wide-angle three-colour LEDs, each individually controllable, EvenLED is designed to be built into an array behind a BP screen; there it can evenly light a cyc at a throw as low as 25cm, creating an enormous array of bright colours or - because each pixel is individually controllable - rainbows, clouds, graduations, colour wipes and much, much more besides. Completely self-contained, EvenLED is a bright, reliable, highly versatile, low-energy solution to an age-old theatre lighting problem, bringing cyc lighting into the 21st Century.

Also on stand were products from White Light (including the White Light Snow Machine and the VSFX Optical Effect System), plus products from the many companies for which White Light is the exclusive UK’s distributor, these including Robert Juliat (showing the Victor followspot, 325HF Fresnel and Lutin PC), ELC (the Showstore data recorder, FocusBRAIN and FocusHAND remotes), LDDE (Spectra 144 LED fixtures), LSC (the EKO and Redback dimmer racks and MaXim console), Look Solutions (the Viper smoke machine), Rainbow (8” Pro scroller), and Wireless Solutions (the Wireless DMX system) .
