Congratulations, TMA Award Winners and Nominees!

Leading entertainment lighting supplier White Light congratulates the winners and all of the nominees of the 2008 TMA Theatre Awards, which were presented at a ceremony at the Hampstead Theatre Sunday, October 26. The company offers particular congratulations to Mick Hughes, winner of the first TMA Award for Best Lighting Design.Presented by the Theatrical Management Association, the annual TMA Awards are designed to recognise work being produced in the regional theatres around the UK, including both productions in regional theatres and touring shows. Productions are nominated by members of the theatregoing public and critics from national and regional newspapers before being short-listed and judged by the TMA Theatre Awards Panels.

The 2008 awards included a new category, Best Lighting Design, sponsored by the Association of Lighting Designers. The nominees in this category were The Railway Children at the National Railway Museum in York, lit by Richard G Jones, the touring production of Equus, lit by David Hersey with the lighting adapted for the tour by Rob Halliday, and The Children’s Hour at the Manchester Royal Exchange, lit by Mick Hughes which was the winner in the category.

Other technical nominees included set designers Douglas Heap, Christopher Woods and Mike Britton, who won the Best Set Design award for Lady From The Sea at the Birmingham Rep.
