The end of one era has arrived and another begun at Martin Professional UK. With facility, operational and leadership transitions, Martin Professional PLC approaches 2010 a streamlined yet effective and highly efficient organization.
New London Office
Martin UK has relocated its sales office from Maidstone to London in order to be closer to leading lighting designers, architects and specifiers and the markets they serve. The new office, which opened in October as a stepping stone into central London, is located in Bermondsey, South East London, a short stroll from London Bridge Underground Station.

The move to new offices is a further step in Martin’s ongoing European restructuring and formation of a regional sales organization based at the company’s headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark. Aimed at developing a more effective and efficient European sales structure with greater customer focus, the regionalization is part of a long range plan that started several years ago when Martin centralised international distribution at Venlo, Holland.
Service and Technical Support
Martin UK’s Service and Technical Support function has moved to Louth, Lincolnshire, home of sister organisation Jem Smoke. Martin UK supports its distribution network with the same warranty and repair service that was offered previously at the Maidstone office.
The Service and Technical Support team is supervised by Jonathan Hatt, who previously supervised the Service Department at Martin’s Maidstone facility.

Outgoing Managing Director
As a consequence of the new structure, Martin UK managing director Tony Browne will be leaving the company upon completion of the restructuring at the end of the year. Browne has overseen Martin’s UK subsidiary since 2007.
“The Martin UK team is extremely strong and I doubt there is a more experienced or dedicated group in the industry,” Browne stated. “They are the foundation of a strong Martin brand name and the reason Martin is the leading lighting and media solutions company in the UK. As markets change adjustments become necessary and I have no doubt this new structure will provide even greater efficiencies, allowing the company to serve customers more effectively. I am confident Martin UK’s high level of performance will continue and will constitute a good base for future growth.
“With the new structure in place this will allow for increased customer intimacy with key customers, as well as improving the chances for capturing the increasing business opportunities in the commercial and architectural markets.”
Villads Thomsen, Martin Vice President EMEA, stated, “We look forward to the possibilities that this new structure opens up for us and we sincerely thank Tony for the excellent job he has done in positioning Martin as the top lighting and visual solutions company in the UK.” As a result of Browne’s departure, Martin UK staff will refer to the company’s European sales management in Denmark.
Open for Business - 2010 and Beyond
As Martin UK moves forward, some things have necessarily changed but not the high levels of attention that customers have come to expect. Coupled with a wide array of innovative visual solutions, Martin UK has positioned itself for a successful 2010 and beyond.
