White Light supplies Look Solutions Cryo-Fog machines to ENB, provides additional machines for Royal Albert Hall season
White Light has helped acclaimed touring ballet company English National Ballet update the low smoke effect used in many of its productions, supplying three of Look Solutions’ Cryo-Fog high-output low-smoke machines to replace the MDG machines ENB previously used.
“We purchased the Cryo-Fogs to replace our previous machines, which were becoming expensive to maintain and keep in peak operating condition,” explains ENB’s Dave Richardson. “We had seen Look’s machines on the White Light stand at PLASA last year, were impressed with their performance and with the price; we’ve now switched over to using them entirely.”
Cryo-Fog consists of a fog generator, a fan and a cooling chamber plus space for a five litre fluid container all built into a single, compact (67x51x30cm) flightcase. Cryo-Fog uses liquid CO2 to cool the incoming smoke from the machine, ensuring that no smoke is emitted until the cooling chamber is at the correct temperature. The high-output, 2300W smoke machine ensures that even large stages can be filled quickly with low-lying chilled fog; Cryo-Fog can either be controlled manually or from a lighting control using DMX.
Though capable of filling large stages, ENB realised that their three machines would not be enough to fill the enormous, 20mx30m arena of London’s Albert Hall for the company’s production of Swan Lake. “There, we have to fill the arena, do so quickly – in just two minutes – and do so with the machines located substage,” explains Dave Richardson. He therefore turned once again to White Light who, working with Look Solutions, were able to supply ENB with a further two Cryo-Fogs for the Albert Hall season, the five machines successfully and reliably filling the arena with low-lying fog.
