ETC’s new Source Four LED luminaire has won the prestigious Award for Sustainability at this year’s PLASA 2012 show in London, against some strong competition.
Performing at 30 to over 40 lumens per watt, the Source Four LED spotlight excels in efficacy. This powerful yet energy-saving light creates beauty and artistry in stage, studio and architectural applications. It combines the popular features of ETC’s conventional Source Four profile spotlight with the intelligence and seven colours of ETC’s Selador Desire LED luminaires. And it comes in three different models – the Lustr+, Tungsten, and Daylight – each using just a fraction of the electricity of its incandescent counterpart. As the PLASA judges also commented: "Source Four LED has a highly efficient optical system, and you can reuse existing lens stock."
ETC’s CEO Fred Foster responded to the honour: “The Source LED is another ‘green’ light within our Source Four line. We engineered it to be an addition to the lighting design toolbox and to blend beautifully with the different light sources in today’s ‘hybrid’ lighting rigs.”
This is the second international award for the Source Four LED, which also won the 2012 Lighting Product of the Year at the ABTT show in June, also held in London.
Source Four Dimmer
Another game-changing device was seen for the first time at this year’s PLASA Show: the Source Four Dimmer. Using ES (Electronic Silent) dimming technology, this yoke-mounted dimmer unit gives you more light for less power by reducing a 230V luminaire to 115V. The use of 115V lamps will, on average, increase the lamp’s output by 23% at any given wattage in a Source Four luminaire, and therefore allow you to switch from a 750W lamp to a 575W lamp while maintaining or even increasing the light output.
Layers of Light theatre
Elsewhere on the ETC stand, Fixtures Product Manager Tom Littrell gave hourly presentations at the ETC’s ‘Layers of Light’ theatre, offering a close-up look at the different ETC Selador Desire LED luminaires and the new Source Four LED spotlight, while demonstrating how this LED light can be layered in with conventional incandescent sources, optimising the overall lighting effect.
ETC lighting desks and power control
ETC control desks from the Congo and Eos lines with the company’s latest software updates installed were available to demonstrate, as was ETC’s Sensor3 Power Control System, including the new ThruPower module, which can operate as a phase-control dimmer, relay or constant circuit.
